The Art of Doing: Electronics for everyone

Purchase Now

Course Preview: Everyone can learn electronics!

  • Covers fundamental electronic components such as resistors, capacitors, diodes, transistors, and integrated circuits. Learn how they operate and build!
  • Learn how to use various laboratory equipment such as power supplies, multimeters, function generators, and oscilloscopes.
  • 10 "Circuit Challenge Problems" putting your knowledge (what you've learned in the course) to the test.
  • 10 "Build Together Circuits" where we walk through, together, building 10 unique electronic circuits.

You can blink an LED or you can BLINK an led!

Years ago I bought an Arduino and I can remember how awesome it felt to hook it up, write a program, and blink an LED!  My next question was "How on earth would you do that without an Arduino?!?".  So I decided to figure it out and it was a ton of fun!

Build, explore, explain

Build Together

We will build a variety of classic circuits such as voltage dividers, RC timing circuits, transistor switches, and the common emitter amplifier.

Then we will move into more unique circuits such as a sound to light converter, volume meter, and various musical instruments!

Explore Together

We will explore concepts and ideas through 10 "Challenge Circuits" where I ask you to build a circuit with an end goal in mind.  This is an opportunity for you to test your knowledge and come up with something all on your own.

We will then explore ideas together through 10 "Build Together" circuits where we tackle interesting and unique circuits by building and learning alongside one another.

Explain Together

Every section comes with a PDF guide full of colored, up close, and annotated pictures of our circuits at each and every step.  This reference guide is followed in each video as I build and explain each and every component that we are putting into the breadboard.

Watch me build the circuit in real time and build along with me!  By the end of each circuit, you will not only understand how the circuit works as a whole but you will know the role of each and every component as well.

Our Final circuit: the 8 step music sequencer

Our final circuit is a culmination of everything learned in the course.  From some resistors, capacitors, diodes, and integrated circuits build an 8 step music sequencer in which you can create your own musical patterns!

Vary each individual note, the overall pitch of the sequence or the tempo of the sequence and begin making your own electronic music today!
